Actor Rafael Silva was recently given the Vanguard award at the Power of Pride’s annual Black Tie Dinner event. For the occasion, he wore our Naoki Pearls Jacket.
Rafael plays Carlos Reyes in the television drama 9-1-1: Lone Star. He also appeared in the 2019 movie Fluidity (about the sex lives of millennials and how they are sometimes shaped by the pressures of social media) as well as in the television drama Madam Secretary and the mini-series Drunk Art Love.
According to the Black Tie Dinner website, the event has been “the largest fundraising dinner for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) community in the nation” since its founding in 1982.
Proceeds are donated to the Human Rights Campaign Foundation each year as well as to several North Texan beneficiaries. The Black Tie Dinner has distributed over $25 million since its founding.
